Stress/Strain Resilience of Foam Test

Foam is typically sold with a single PSI firmness value. This value rarely provides insight into the full behavior of the foam. Different foam’s outside layers might be very stiff compared to relatively softer interior or vice-versa. A single firmness characteristic does not always provide enough information to determine the best foam for a given application. This application study focuses on two sample packages of foam from an online supplier. The firmness selector pack contained eight samples of foam with various PSI ratings. The material selector pack contained 13 samples of different material foams with no provided PSI rating. All the different samples of foam measured four inches wide by four inches long but varied in thickness.
