Automated Linear Indexing System

Automate texture analysis for high-volume testing. Test more than one sample at a time.

Why automate testing?

  • Speed up the testing process
  • Increase lab throughput
  • Improve consistency across operators
  • More efficiently deploy lab resources
  • Provide accurate and repeatable results

Consists of...

  1. Location Plate

    Mounts ALIS to the TA.XTPlus.

  2. Carriage Assembly

Attaches to the mounting plate. Includes a test platform for single texture analysis tests.

  3. Sample Support Plate

Attaches to the top of the integral test platform. Different for each application. Made to customer requirements.

  4. Control Unit

Connects to the TA.XTPlus and Carriage Assembly motor and sensors.

Features

Quick to set up. Easy to mount

Two modes: move and pause for each sample, or move constantly at the speed of the instrument’s arm (for 90° peel tests).
Change test speeds during a test to compare peel behaviors under multiple speeds.
Platform is automatically indexed for each test replicate.
Platform moves in either direction for regularly or irregularly spaced samples.
Plenty of room for multiple samples on the testing platform at once.
Easily run tests with a special batch testing window within Exponent.

How It Works

How can you automate testing?

1

Mount samples

Test conditions are set and multiple samples are mounted on quick-release plates.

2

Perform tests

The carriage moves horizontally at three selectable speeds. An internal loudspeaker and flash display alert you if intervention is needed (helpful to colleagues who may be unaware of an ongoing test).

3

Analyze data

Results are reported with virtually no operator involvement, improving productivity, safety, and accuracy.
