Texture Analyzer Peripheral Devices

Texture Technologies offers several peripheral devices that extend the value of and ability to capture data with the Stable Micro Systems family of texture analysis and texture measure instruments.

Acoustic Envelope Detector

Acoustic Envelope Detector

In response to requests from both University and commercial research departments, Stable Micro Systems has developed a method of measuring the acoustic energy release during a physical test. The acoustic system has high sensitivity to the frequencies emitted by brittle products but has low sensitivity to mechanical noise emitted by the Texture Analyzer itself. The system contains all the necessary components for connection to a TA.XTPlus Texture Analyzer, which will generate synchronized force and sound profiles for individual tests to provide a ‘4th dimension in texture analysis’.

Some Texture Analysis tests either occur very quickly or there are transient events during the test that are easily missed. Variables such as the brittle nature of a given product or employing a certain test protocol such as rapid probe withdrawal during an adhesive 'tack' test can cloud analysis. Due to the speed of these types of events, some test features may almost be missed. Therefore, video capture of the test, allowing for replay, is often of interest to researchers. This is even more relevant when the captured video information can be played back in frame synchronization with the cursor movement of the force/time texture analysis recording.

Resistance Conversion Unit

By using the Resistance Conversion Unit in conjunction with the TA.XTPlus Texture Analyzer's multi -channel data acquisition capability, the characterization of Electro-mechanical products is enabled. This is achieved by measuring and analyzing the force characteristics – distance and resistance – co-incidentally.

Typical applications include:

• The push button and membrane micro-switch where the measurement of the change of electrical resistance during depression is measured.

• The characterization of a conductive gasket as it is compressed to measure the force required to reduce its' electrical resistance so that it forms an effective RF seal.

Fully Integrated Temperature and Humidity Modules

The Fully Integrated Temperature and Humidity Modules measure and plot product temperature and humidity using Texture Expert Exceed or Texture Exponent software. Modules connect to the TA.XT2i Texture Analyzer via the RS485 port or TA.XTPlus Texture Analyzer through the Auxiliary port.
